Title of Original Illustration: Hutsul Duet
Medium: Watercolour and Pencil Crayon
The first duet my daughter danced was from the Hutsulschyna region. I found the dance students loved the energetic skipping and running of the Hutsul dance style. The vividly embroidered wool costuming represents their location in the Carpathian Mountains where sheep herding is a way of life. The dance steps include skipping and stamping, shaking the head and hands often reflecting the movements of daily life.
